6/29/2023 0 Comments A Crane Among Wolves by June Hur![]() ![]() The pacing was spot on, they mystery was intriguing enough, and I loved the slow romance that developed between Hyeon and Eojin. Coming off the success of this one, it is hard for me to believe, but this one was even better! I blew through this book in two days. I read The Forest of Stolen Girls last year and it was one of my favorite books of last year, which I know isn’t a popular opinion, but I don’t care. ![]() It’s clear to me that June Hur has now solidified her place as a auto-read author for me with this novel. As evidence starts to point towards the Crown Prince, Hyeon and Eojin must work together to solve the case and save anyone else from a grisly end, including themselves. Determined to prove her mentor’s innocence, Hyeon launches her own investigation before teaming up with Eojin, a young police inspector who is also searching for the killer. However, Hyeon is suddenly thrust into the dark and dangerous world of court politics after someone murders four women in a single night and her beloved teacher is cast as the prime suspect. All she wants to do is keep her head down, do a good job, and win her estranged father’s approval. ![]() After years of hard work and study, eighteen-year-old Hyeon has earned a position as a palace nurse. There are few options available to illegitimate daughters in the capital city of Joseon (Korea) in 1758. ![]() “We are women,” she continued, “and nothing short of death stops us from doing precisely what we wish to do.” ![]()
